山本今天面對24名打者，97球中有66球好球，其中被打5支安打，沒有全壘打，送出6支三振，1次四壞球，僅在第6局失去1分，投手防禦率2.5。比賽第7局，山本先被日籍同胞岡本和真擊出深遠2壘安打，之後藍鳥出其不意巧妙觸擊成功，形成一、三壘，沒人出局下場。

山本本季首度投到第7局，可惜沒有造成任何打者出局，道奇隊出現失分危機決定換投，接替的中繼投手Alex Vesia成功化解滿壘狀況並且沒有失分，山本成為勝投候選人，有望爭奪本季第2勝。
