美軍驅逐艦海爾賽號通過台灣海峽

美國海軍週三（8日）表示，神盾艦海爾賽號（USS Halsey）已經依照既定行程，常規性通過台灣海峽。

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Halsey (DDG 97) conducted a routine Taiwan Strait transit on May 8 through waters where high-seas freedoms of navigation and overflight apply in accordance with international law.

聲明中說，海爾賽號在沒有進入任何沿岸國家領海的狀況下，於8日通過台灣海峽。舷號97的海爾賽號是配備神盾作戰系統的伯克級飛彈驅逐艦，是美國海軍主力作戰艦隻之一，隸屬美軍第七艦隊。

這次的台海航行，是美軍例常進行的公海自由航行任務之一。而這次美軍艦通過台灣海峽，也是在台灣新任總統5月20日就職典禮前夕。

中國軍方聲稱，他們全程「監視警告」海爾賽號通過台灣海峽的過程。
